For my first project, i created a collage , i also incorporated cubism into this final piece, along with 2 self-portraits , and it was done on a background i made from newspaper articles that portrayed the world today.

I started off experimenting with different images i could add to the collage, so i used carbon paper to draw some headphones and painted an eye onto black paper using white acrylic.

This piece in my sketch book was largely influnced by rauschenberg as i liked the was he washed over his images with paint.

On the right is on of Rauschenbergs collages, this was a major influence to me with my first final piece as i liked the way there were clear images beneath the clutter and more relaxed stlye of art in the forground.

Then i tried using stencils , so i created a stencil of a gas mask, and also of the quote "i will sleep when i die"

Here i looked at 'Chuck Close' for my artist research, and i recreated one of his famous self portrait, using pencils , i think this was succesful as i felt pencils worked particularly well to show facial features and depth.

Here is the original image i felt that as it was a black and white picture , penicls would be best suited to recreate this image successfully.

As art work

Above is a picture of my inital idea for my final piece of this project, i used a variety of medias , such as chalk, drawing ink, and block paints and acyrlic paint.

Above is my final piece for the exam when i was given the title "Sanctuary" i immediately thought of churches and religon , and how people use religion as a sanctuary.

Here is some of my development work , the cubism style was incoporated into this to show the cracks and fractures in some peoples beleif.

Here i looked at a grave stones , as i wanted to look at all areas of religion. I used a black pen and cross hatching to create the image above.

Here is an image of a grave stone where i used drawing inks, to create this image, and then used the same inks to give the piece an old and derelict look to it. They also make it look like it has vines wrapping round it.

This is the original photograph that i used in my development and became the structure of my final piece, i concentrated on a window as it was one of the most interesting architectural aspects of the church.

Here is a close up of the circular window this was the main focus pint of my final piece, i used a variety of medias such as chalk and acrylic paint along with block paints and drawing ink.

This is a close up of a wall which was on the right hand side of my main piece, i used inks and watered down paints to show droplets down as it felt it made the piece look older and added more detail.

Below is one of Picasso's cubsim pieces i like how the random sized lines and curves are all used intelligently to create and image that is not immediately apparent. This influnced my final piece for my exam as i felt it gave a good overall end result.

This is a pencil drawing of a lamp post i found on a staircase outside a church in headingly, i used a variety of penicls to show contrast and light that was being reflected of the lamp.

Here i looked at religious symbols such as the crucifix and roseary beads, i did a few intial sketches using pencils and pens, then i created an etching which i would user later on mutiple times to create a final piece.
